The Allman Brothers Band Mountain Jam Continued
There are very few educational games for children that aren't obviously designed to teach. Math games, for example, are fun but they're clearly designed to help children grasp the basics of math which can take the fun out of them, but Animal Jam doesn't make its educational purpose so obvious to kids. This is a game that's very educational thanks to the link with the National Geographic Society, but it's also so much fun that children won't realize that they're learning various facts about zoology. At the moment, there are approximately 160 million registered players for the developers WildWorks launched online in 2010, so this is a popular game.
Animal Jam
This online virtual world has various mini-games and adventures for players to become involved within the fictional world known as Jamaa. Players will find an environment that allows for customizable animals which can be given a name of the player's choice. The original six animals that were available were the koala, monkey, panda, rabbit, tiger and wolf but several years on from the game's launch many more animals have been added including fox, ostrich, penguin, hyena, coyote and owl.
After selecting an animal to play as, Jammers, which is the name given to players, can play mini-games, watch educational videos about animals and their ecosystems and become involved in an online community for like-minded kids who share a love of animals. Customizable dens for their animals that can be decorated with furniture and other items that help show off the player's unique personality. When jammers explore the virtual world, they'll find unique animals and plants which the kid can learn about. Their experiences are stored in their Journey Book, which can be checked out at their leisure.
Membership
The game can be played for free but if you want the full experience, you'll need to become a member. You can become a member on a month by month basis, buy a six-month membership or pay for a year's full access. You can gift this to a friend if you're looking for a present which can be bought from Walmart or PayPal's eBay shop or you can buy online through Animal Jam's website. Membership unlocks additional animals and comes with additional gems and diamonds which are the game's currency. Membership also unlocks different dens and adorable pets.
Diamonds
If your child is really enjoying the game, they'll want to earn diamonds. They can win them on the Daily Spin game and then spend them in the Diamond Shop, which they'll find in Jamaa Township. There a collection of rare and beautiful items that is always changing can be bought with diamonds so jammers will want to check back on a regular basis to make sure they've not missed something other players have got. Additional diamonds come with membership gift cards and gift certificates but check around online and you'll find some free animal jam diamond codes.
Parental Control
You don't need to worry what your child is doing when they're online playing this game as the developers have included a link between each player's logon and a separate account run by their parents. The Parent Account gives guardians a number of settings that allow them to manage aspects of the game including the ability to reset the player's password, the option to see a player's history, as well as various other account controls that combine to give peace of mind to parents.
Item Codes
Items codes for the game help unlock additional diamonds or other items that both members and those playing for free can use. Each code can only be used once but there are lots of places where jammers will find them including in the National Geographic Kids Magazine and the Daily Explorer website. Players also find them in the Jam-A-Grams sent on or around major holidays. The codes aren't case sensitive so they're easy to enter through the home screen, through the "redeem your code" page or by clicking the "enter code" button under My Settings.
